Hugh Parke Charity
Hugh Parke was rector of Loughton from 1485 to 1514. He left some land locally (where Winterhill is now). The income generated from the annual farmers’ rents was to be shared; half towards the upkeep of All Saints’ Church and the remainder for the relief of the poor.
In 1975 Milton Keynes Development Corporation bought the land and the money was invested. The charity has since received income from these investments; approximately £2,000 per annum.
To administer the Charity there are seven Trustees; three from All Saints’ Church, two Parish Councillors, plus two co-opted members.
Normally the Trustees meet in early December to distribute the previous twelve months income.
Notices inviting residents and local organisations within the Civil Parish (i.e. Loughton and Great Holm) to apply are displayed on the parish noticeboards during November. If you feel your circumstances are such, please apply. Under exceptional circumstances applications will be considered at other times during the year.
Recent beneficiaries include individual residents, local schools, scouts and guides, MacIntyre and Willen Hospice (having in mind the care of those living within the parish).
