Development at the former Dolphin Splashdown site at Shenley Church End

Sainsburys have agreed with Frontier Estates to become the retail operator of the proposed supermarket on the former Dolphin Splashdown site at Shenley Church End.  Although not in Loughton Parish the site is an important local centre for the parish. The new store would be 21,540 square feet (2001 sq metres) and include 238 parking spaces. It will replace the existing Sainsbury’s store – which has not been opened for very long. This is all subject to planning approval which is pending.

There will be a public exhibition of the proposals on Wednesday 18th April 3pm to 7.30pm at Shenley Church End Parish Council offices.

No information has yet been provided about what will happen to the existing Sainsburys within Benbow Court which is leased from the Parks Trust. Presumably Sainsburys will be looking to dispose of their lease to another retail business
